Education
I attended UBC where I completed the following degrees: Master of Library and Information Studies; Master of Laws; Bachelor of Laws; and a Bachelor of Arts (History). I was called to the B.C. Bar in 2003, and I am a non-practising member in good standing with the Law Society of B.C.
Librarian
I am currently serving as Interim Associate University Librarian, Collections at the University of British Columbia. In this role, I provide strategic leadership for the development, management, and stewardship of library collections and resources that support teaching, learning, and research across the university. I am on secondment from my substantive position as Head of the UBC Law Library, where I oversee the library's operations, services, and strategic initiatives.
Leadership
As an administrator, I take a collaborative leadership approach that values diverse opinions and encourages teamwork. By recognizing the perspectives of my colleagues, I help build a strong sense of community within my team. As a School Trustee, I bring this same philosophy to my governance work. I am committed to bringing people together, listening to all stakeholders, building strong partnerships, and working collectively to strengthen our public education system.
Educator
In addition to being a librarian, I am an Honorary Lecturer at the Peter A. Allard School of Law, where I teach legal research and writing courses, along with a course on Education and the Law. My teaching philosophy is grounded in creating positive, student-centered learning experiences that support every learner's success. Through my work in higher education, I see firsthand how the foundations established in K-12 classrooms shape future opportunities for students. Teaching Education and the Law has also deepened my understanding of the policies, rights, and responsibilities that help create effective and inclusive learning environments.
Family
I grew up in Vancouver but moved to Lynn Valley 16 years ago when I met my wife, who is a lifetime resident of North Vancouver. We now live in the wonderful Windsor Park neighbourhood with our two amazing children. We cannot think of a better place to raise and educate them. My family and I acknowledge and thank, the Skwxwú7mesh Nation and Tsleil-Waututh Nation, on whose traditional lands we live, work, and learn.
